Kedarnath is a town in Rudraprayag district in the state of Uttarakhand in India and has gained importance because of the Kedarnath Temple. It is approximately 86 kilometres from Rudraprayag, the district headquarter.  Badrinath is a town and nagar panchayat in Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. A Hindu holy place, it is one of the four sites in India’s Char Dham pilgrimage and is also part of India’s Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. 

The Trek Route from Badrinath to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand is mystical with memorable views around but quite tough. Historically there are several trekkers who trekked this route successfully while some were ill fated as they lost their way forever. Now, there are several guides to help out such tourists visitors and devotees who go for spiritual tours. There are many pilgrims who also go for the sightseeing tour to the surrounding places. Millions of Pilgrims from across the World come to pay their homage at these Ancient Temples, between the months of May and October. Located at an altitude of 3584 m & 3,133 m, Kedarnath and Badrinath allows Travellers to admire Serene Environs.

 

Who Can GO For badrinath & kedarnath TREK

  • First timer can apply, should have some interest in trekking and mountaineering.

  • The climber must be fit and have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km of distance in 45 minutes without a stress.

  • The climber should be able to carry a 10 kg backpack.

  • Heart problem, high blood pressure, asthma, and epilepsy cannot be reconciled on this mission. The climber must not have the conditions mentioned above.

How to reach

The Dehradun Railway station is one of the main stations in the City and it is an old station. It has good connectivity to many places and these include Lucknow, Delhi, and Howrah. Tickets from Delhi to Dehradun by train cost around Rs.350 for a second class sleeper ticket and Rs.890 for a third A/C sleeper ticket. It is essential to book the tickets at least one month in advance as this route is always in demand.

By Train:-
From Delhi take the DDN SHTABDI SPL (02017) Dep. New Delhi at 06:45am. Arrival Dehradun at 12:55pm. or the Uttar KOTA DDN SPL (02401) Dep. NZM at 11:45pm arrival Dehradun at 05:40 am (Overnight Journey).

By Bus:-
Regular buses fly from ISBT Delhi Anand Vihar/Kashmiri Gate station to Dehradun. Buses drop you at ISBT bus station.Tata Sumo or similar vehicles will pick-up you from Dehradun Isbt and Railway

Day 01: Haridwar– Guptkashi by surface 225 Kms approx 5-6 Hrs. 


Day 02: Guptkashi / Sonprayag to Kedarnath Temple by surface approx 30 Kms and By Trek 20 Kms. 


Day 03: Kedarnath – Guptkashi.


Day 04: Guptashi to Badrinath (3133 Meters) by surface 160 Kms approx 6-7 Hrs.


Day 05: Badrinath to Rudraprayag.

Day 06: Rudraprayag to Rishikesh to Haridwar

Detailed Itenary

Haridwar– Guptkashi by surface 225 Kms approx 5-6 Hrs. 

Morning after breakfast, check out from the hotel. Drive towards Guptkashi. Enroute you can see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. The Mandakini river comes from Kedarnath, drive alongside the river to reach Guptakashi, visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptakashi. Check into the hotel arrival in Guptakashi. Overnight stay at Guptakashi.

Guptkashi / Sonprayag to Kedarnath Temple by surface approx 30 Kms and By Trek 20 Kms. 

Morning after breakfast our driver will transfer you to your Helipad location as per helicopter ticket time. Kindly inform the driver timings of helicopter mentioned on the ticket previous day. Different aviation has different location for their helicopter service. Our driver will provide you both pick and drop to hotel to Helipad. At arrival in Kedarnath reach Kedarnath Temple. Visit Kedarnath Temple. After darshan return to the helipad. Take return flight. Our driver will pick up you from helipad and take you to your hotel.

Kedarnath – Guptkashi (19 km down Trek & 30 km/1 hr by Road)

Wake up before dawn and reach the Kedarnath temple to attend the “Abhishek” ceremony at 4.45 am. Then, all the devotees can enter the Garbha Griha and seek blessings by touching the idol. After that, start a downward trek to Sonprayag and drive to Guptkashi. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Guptkashi – Badrinath (210 km/7-8hr)

In the morning after breakfast, drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. On arrival at the sacred Dham of Lord Vishnu, check in at the hotel and take a rest. Thereafter visit the holy places in Badrinath such as Tapt Kund, Narad Kund, Brahma Kapal, Sheshnetra, Charan Paduka, Mata Murti Temple, Mana Village, Vyas Gufa, and Vasundhara. In the evening, go for Badrinath darshan and attend the evening Aarti. Badrinath is one of the ‘Four Dhams’ and the most famous pilgrimage site in India. The holy Dham is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters and is surrounded by the two mountain ranges Nar & Narayan with Neelkanth Peak in the backdrop. The place is also known as “Badri van”, meaning “forest of berries” as wild berries once covered it. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Badrinath – Rudraprayag (160 km)/Kirti Nagar (190 km)

Rise before dawn and take a bath in the warm water of the Tapt Kund, a natural thermal spring and attend the “Abhishek” ceremony of Badrivishal. After that, start your return journey from Badrinath Kedarnath Dham Yatra. Drive to Rudraprayag/Kirtinagar and en route, visit Joshimath. Joshimath is the winter home of Badrinath. The sacred place is situated on the slopes above the confluence of Alaknanda and Dhauliganga. Here you can visit one of the four ‘Math’ founded by Adi Shankaracharya. The idol of Badrinath is installed in the temple and worshiped for six months of the winter. You can also visit the temple of Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On arrival at Rudraprayag, check in at the hotel.Stay overnight at the hotel.

Rudraprayag to Rishikesh to Haridwar (160 km/5hr)

On the last day of your Badrinath Kedarnath tour, start your journey to Rishikesh early in the morning. Known as the ‘place of sages’, Rishikesh is a spiritual town located on the banks of Ganga. It is surrounded by the Shivalik range of the Himalayas on three sides. You can visit the famous attractions in Rishikesh, such as Laxman Jhulla, Ram Jhulla, Triveni Ghat, Bharat Mandir, and Sivananda Ashram.

Later, get transferred to Haridwar Railway Station/Dehradun Airport, where the sacred journey will end.

2 Pairs of Quick Dry Tees and Track Pants (Denim are not recommended for treks.)

Thermal Wear – 1 pair (you can keep two if going on the long trek)

Gore Tex type similar hard shell for rain or snow & to be worn over mid layers like fleece or down jackets.

One down feather Jacket

Sun Cap, One Scarf, Light towel, Gloves (1 woolen, 1 waterproof)

Woolen cap or Balaclava that covers the ear (protection from cold waves), Dark UV Sunglasses

Carry a few plastic bags in case your clothes get wet.
